Welcome to Southbourne Tennis Club – Bringing Tennis To The Community

Our Club successfully provides social and competitive tennis for all ages and abilities. We are a well-established and progressive club in Bournemouth with over 450 Adult , Junior and Mini Tennis members. We are winners of Dorset LTA Club of the year, have a very friendly and vibrant atmosphere , and have amongst our members some of the best players in Dorset.

New Players are always welcome! If you’re new to tennis you are welcome to come and try our Wednesday night session which runs from 6-8PM. This is a mixed ability session of green to intermediate players. It’s a very relaxed session where the aim is to have competition but a lot of fun at the same time. Everyone is encouraged and supported. Oh, you also, have a Monday session 10AM to 12PM and a coaching session on Wednesday evening 7.15MP to 8.15PM. This is a great way to get to know the coaches and be introduced to the amazing game of tennis!

Been playing a few years? But not team standard? Club sessions are Tues, Fri (9AM to 11AM) and Sun mornings (10AM to 12PM). We also have adult coaching Monday and for red players we have Thursday session 6-8pm.

Finally, juniors over 10’s can come and trial club sessions Sat 10-11.25am and Mon 6-7.25pm.

Dear members

We will be working with Bright Ideas for Tennis Charity again next year in order to raise funds for our Disability and community programme. To do this we need volunteers for the following activities.

The fundraising activities involve 8 volunteer members who wish to be involved in part of a 24hr marathon at the National Tennis Centre and and one or two members who would like to do a Skydive.

The 24hr tennis marathon will be held at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton from 12 noon on Saturday 22nd Feb until 12 noon on Sunday 23rd Feb with 2 Davis Cup / Fed Cup players who will play the full 24hrs. Currently confirmed are Alex Slabinsky and Julie Salmon. Every 4 hours there will be a new Davis Cup / Fed Cup partner for them. We will be involved in 4 hours of the event providing the opposition. All play will be doubles. Our club representatives will become our main fundraisers for the event. They will set up individual Local Giving fundraising pages and get people to sponsor them for the event, all raised funds will be ours to keep.

Playing standard is completely irrelevant. Being able to devote the time and energy to fundraising is FAR MORE IMPORTANT. Are you able to help fundraise for the club? Do you have good outside contacts and people who will sponsor you? Can the company you work for become involved through a match funding scheme?

The skydive has been booked (and paid for) on Friday 13th March at the UK SkyDive Centre in March, Cambridgeshire.
Bright Ideas for Tennis will pay for the cost of the skydive, NB Anyone over the age of 40 years of age MUST have a signed doctors certificate to confirm good health / suitability etc
This can take a while to obtain, so don't delay!
Divers must be 18 years or over

If anyone has any questions or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch either at davesanger@gmail.com or on 07812 676761 as places are limited and we need to start fundraising now!!! We need your help, please let me know asap if you wish to be part of this great opportunity!!!

Best wishes
